Become a Volunteer

Become a volunteer to help provide international medical relief and reduce solid medical waste.

SHARE volunteers collect unused but clean medical supplies from the operating room and redistributes the instruments to developing nations. In addition to providing international medical relief, SHARE benefits the hospital by reducing its solid medical waste. In the Fall 2019 semester, SHARE volunteers had sorted, packaged, and shipped out over 5000 pounds of clean medical supplies.

How to Become a Volunteer

• Attend at least 3 out of our 4 monthly GBMs

We love to stay connected with our members! Our monthly GBMs are one hour each, and give members updates, new “Supplies of the Month” panels, and allow volunteers to interact outside of the SHARE room!

• Attend 1 sorting orientation session and/or sort for at least 3 hours every semester

Sign up through this link to join an orientation session! A SHARE Executive Board member will lead a group of new volunteers and orient you over a period of 3 hours on how to sort, package, and weigh supplies properly.

Using our Facebook page or GroupMe chat, you can find a group of volunteers to sort and package with, or go on your own! You can even sign up through another orientation session. Sign in at our SHARE sorting room to log your hours, and feel free to use our Pandora account to play music while you sort!

Refer to the sorting guide or reach out to us if you have any questions.
