Mask-Making Program

In partnership with Stitched Together, the IRONMAN Foundation, and Johns Hopkins Center for Social Concern, SHARE hosted a Mask-Making Program to sew and donate face masks to those in need in the Baltimore community. This program has now been retired.

Face Mask Sewing

Volunteers received sewing kits with all the necessary supplies and instructions for mask-making. Each kit contained the supplies to make 5 masks. This opportunity was open to all Hopkins affiliates.

Thank you for your time and commitment to serving the Baltimore community!

Stitched Together

Mission: “To teach children and adults to use their innate empathy, artistry, and power to affect healing in others, one stitch at a time.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Stitched Together sewed masks to help with the shortage of face masks for the medical community serving on the front lines. Stitched Together offered SHARE tremendous support in planning the logistics and providing resources for the Mask-Making Program.

IRONMAN Foundation

Mission: “The IRONMAN Foundation creates positive, tangible change in race communities through grant funding and volunteerism.”

SHARE received a generous donation of race t-shirts from the IRONMAN Foundation after their wide variety of events were cancelled for COVID-19. Since the fabric is 100% cotton, all the t-shirts will be repurposed as the fabric for the face masks.

Mission: “The Center for Social Concern fosters a lifelong commitment to active citizenship by integrating education, action, and reflection.”

Through the collaboration with the Johns Hopkins CSC, SHARE was able to spread the Mask-Making Program initiative to Hopkins students across the world. SHARE has also received a generous grant from CSC to fund Phase 2 of the Mask-Making Program.
